Winemaker Daniel Benton grew up in Salisbury and played football at Catawba College. He sources his Croze and Smith Wooten wines from some of the finest vineyards in Napa – but unlike so many boutique winemakers, he gently fashions them in a truer, even more European style, letting the terroir of each of these special vineyards shine.
No reviews, of course, as this one is virtually non-existent.
The 2017 CROZE Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon shows its Oakville roots with blackberries, cocoa and toasted oak balanced by its Rutherford core with notes granite and black pepper. This wine is gorgeously balanced between ripe fruits and soft tannin structure. Elegant and supple this wine reflects the depth and complexity of the combined AVA's, enhanced by extended barrel aging.
Gorgeous already, as so many top Oakville and Rutherford Cabernets are, Bentom says this will improve for 15+ years.
