When Lee told me this was from one of the most famous vineyards of the Santa Lucia Highlands – one from which we’ve sold two Parker 96-point Pinots at $65 – I thought “we’ll just have to taste it and see.”
Well, if anything it’s even finer than the two Parker 96-pointers we sold!
The Santa Lucia Highlands can produce some of America’s most distinctive Pinot Noirs. Even in the highly stylized Belle Glos lineup, their Las Alturas stands out.
And this beautiful 2017, a fantastic vintage here, is the essence of Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir.
It somehow combines an almost meaty, marrowy richness with a deftness, even weightlessness, that is the Pinot Noir ideal.
This absolutely gorgeous Pinot Noir could easily hold its own in a lineup of America’s $65 Pinot Noir elite.
And NO American Pinot under $30 (save perhaps Two Sisters at $27.99) can touch it.
There have been SO many great Cabernet buys from End of the Vine…but this has to be the most astonishing bargain they’ve ever offered.
You just don’t find Pinot Noirs like this under $20 – or really hardly ever under $50.
