94 Points and “Exceptional” from Tastings.com:
Ruby black color. Aromas and flavors of chocolate blueberry and nuts bar, cassis compote, and buttercream with a satiny, vibrant, fruity full body and a sleek, appealing, long finish with overtones of blueberry cobbler a la mode, spiced dried berries, nuts, and hint of leather with well-integrated, fine, chewy tannins and moderate oak flavor. A remarkably plush and elegant Napa Cabernet with almost irresistible fruit, spice, and creaminess.
92 from the Sommeliers Choice Awards:
Powerful aromas of cassis and currant lead to a palate of rich, mouth-filling blackberry and cassis flavors. Polished and balanced, Eagle Glen shows a background of fine tannins to balance its rich core of fruit. Finishes up smooth and juicy.
This is one of those “secret” Cabernet steals that – like the best from Treasure Hunter or End of the Vine – we could easily sell 200 cases of…and still have people wanting more. Alas, we only have 10 cases available.
It’s 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, from three top vineyards in Oakville. Vineyards that usually go into Cabernets MANY times this price. Plus 10% Merlot from two vineyards in Calistoga. Again - ching, ching.
Harvested late in October, from very low yields and extremely concentrated fruit. Hand sorted, given a cold soak before fermentation, and then a nice lashing of 60% new French oak. In other words, this is $50-plus raw material with $50-plus winemaking in a truly outstanding vintage.
