Here’s a Marlbourough Sauvignon Blanc that’s won a
slew of awards – including New Zealand Wine of the Year in the Sommeliers’
Choice Award – in its top rated vintage yet, for only $12.99.
It earned the top 5-Star rating from the New Zealand
Wine Orbit Magazine. Plus a 93+ from Kiwi wine writer Sam Kim, who said:
Fabulously fruited and inviting on the nose showing feijoa [a
sweet and aromatic fruit the Kiwis like to eat warm with ice cream], kiwifruit,
nectarine and lime peel characters... A succulent palate that is vibrant and
lively. Highly enjoyable.
The wine is grown in a very special part of Marlborough, the
Wairau Bar, which is also the site of New Zealand’s first known settlement. It
lies between the mouth of the Wairau Vineyard and Cloudy Bay, with the classic
gravelly soil of the very best (and original) Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs.
There is no better spot in Marlborough to produce richer, yet still very fresh,
bright and complex Sauvignon Blancs.
